ChartCo: Further acquisitions on the cards

Since taking the helm at ChartCo in 2010 Martin Taylor has been responsible for three key acquisitions; more are on the cards as this British e-navigation company aims to offer the widest possible range of services.

Regs4ships, Docmap and Marine Position are the three first acquisitions by Taylor. Further purchases are likely to be made in the direction of automation and digitsation – getting data such as logbooks and vessel performance shoreside.

ChartCo navigation and compliance software is now installed on around 10,000 vessels around the world.

Earlier this month the company launched its next generation platform, ChartCo OneOcean, a tool that helps plan voyages, crew, weather among a host of other aspects and combines these earlier acquisitions, getting them all to interact, Taylor says.

Inside the platform is EnviroManager, a location-based system designed to assist with MARPOL regulation compliance; PassageManager, ChartCo’s proprietary e-navigation system; Regs4ships, a searchable database that combines Flag State compliance documentation with IMO, ILO and EU legislation to provide an overall regulatory solution; Docmap, a document management system; and fleet tracker FleetManager.

ChartCo claims its new product is the ultimate platform for global compliance needs in navigation, environmental, safety, and regulations management.

“We have some competitors who offer some of what we do, but not the entire breadth,” Taylor tells Maritime CEO.

Initially appointed managing director of ChartCo in 2010, Taylor went on to become CEO after leading a management buyout in 2016.
