Chemikalien Seetransport buys out Rigel Schiffahrts

Hamburg’s Chemikalien Seetransport (CST) has bought our Bremen-based chemical and product tanker firm Rigel Schiffahrts in the latest chapter of shipping consolidation seen across German maritime in recent years. No price has been given for the acquisition.

Rigel was founded in 1990 and is run by Dr Holger Poets and Jörn Lüdtke. Its Korean-built ships range in size from 13,916 cu m to 42,630 cu m.

CST is one of Hamburg’s largest owners with interests in gas, product and chemical carriers as well as dry bulk. It operates most of its ships in pools.
