China Harbour Engineering Company eyes Jamaican ports

Kingston: China Communications Construction Company, the parent company of China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), has signed a two-year cooperation agreement with the government of Jamaica to explore infrastructure development projects in Jamaica.

Over the weekend, Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller said that “projects which will flow from this agreement must bring mutual economic benefit, deliver value for money and improve the social well-being and the standard of living of our people”.

The agreement for development of Jamaica’s infrastructure has a strong emphasis placed on the construction of ports, waterways, shipping facilities and light railways systems for both cargo and passengers. [23/07/12]
