China hits new iron ore record

Beijing: China’s iron ore imports hit a new record last year, jumping 13.8% to 932.5m tonnes, according to data released yesterday by the General Administration of Customs.

In December, iron ore shipments soared 29% from the previous month to a record 86.85m tonnes.

Chinese steel exports leapt 50.5% in 2014 from a year earlier to 93.78m tonnes. Shipments hit a new record of 10.17m tonnes in December.  [14/01/15]
