China Navigation orders boxship quartet at Huangpu Wenchong

Singapore’s China Navigation has signed shipbuilding contracts with CSSC-affiliated Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for the construction of four 2,750 teu sub-panamax containerships.

The delivery of the ships is scheduled in the second quarter of 2020.

The latest order follows China Navigation ordering four 2,350 teu boxships at Huangpu Wenchong at the end of 2017.

Currently China Navigation operates its container shipping business mostly via chartered in tonnage and a fleet of MPPs. It also has interests in two 2,100 teu secondhand container vessels and four 1700 teu newbuilding container vessels through its shareholding in Mandarin Shipping.
