China Offshore Deepsea Industry Alliance established

Seven major Chinese rig builders have jointly established China Offshore Deepsea Industry Alliance (CODIA) in Beijing yesterday in an effort to enhance competitiveness of the industry.

The seven Chinese rigbuilders are the first batch of ‘white list’ offshore shipyards, including CIMC Raffles, ZPMC, Cosco (Qidong) Offshore Engineering, Cosco Nantong Shipyard, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, China Merchants Heavy Industry and Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore.

As the initiator company of the alliance, China Cosco Shipping Group will be the first governing company of CODIA.

Lian Yanfeng, general manager of Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry, called the members of the alliance to jointly work on innovation, standard making and technology sharing, in order to enhance the overall competitiveness of China’s offshore industry.
