China shipbuilding orders surge in the first four months

Shanghai: China’s shipbuilding industry has experienced a rebound in the first four months of this year.

According to data released by China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI), Chinese shipbuilders received total shipbuilding order volume of 30.3m dwt in the period, a year-on-year growth of 160%.

“It looks like that the new order volume is growing fast, however, the shipowners are more cautious on placing new orders as the ship price is increasing, the growth will slow down in the near future,” said Zhang Guangqin, chairman of CANSI. [06/06/14]
