China Steel Express orders capesize pair at CSBC

China Steel Express, the shipping unit of Taiwan’s China Steel Corporation, has placed an order at local yard CSBC for the construction of two 208,000 dwt capesize bulk carriers.

The two vessels are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 202 and are priced at around $47.5m each.

China Steel Express has been undergoing a fleet optimization plan, having ordered a total of four 208,000 dwt bulkers at CSBC and Japan Marine United in June, and selling ageing panamax bulker CSE Harmony Express in July 2017.

China Steel Express currently operates a fleet of 22 bulkers.
