China to build 142 ships for Greece

Beijing: Greek Shipping Minister Kostis Moussouroulis said this weekend that the nation is to order 142 newbuildings in Chinese shipyards and the contracts have all been signed.

The orders accounted for more than 60% of the recent global orders of Greek owners, Moussouroulis said. In the next decade, China will remain an important global exporter and become an increasingly important importer, he added.

From last Wednesday to Sunday, the Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and officials were on an official visit to China with the two nations vowing to boost cooperation on various fields. [20/05/13]
