China’s newest shipowner revealed

China has a new shipowner. Jiangsu Suneng Logistics has snapped up three handymaxes, entering the domestic trades.

The 2010-built ships were sold at auction, having failed in earlier auctions. The geared vessels had belonged to defunct coal trader Lanhai, which has seen its fleet sold off in the last couple of years to pay back creditors. The en bloc price for the trio was set at $21m.
