Christian Berg steps down as CEO of Viking Supply Ships

Christian W Berg is to step down as CEO of Viking Supply Ships (VSS) but will remain at the company as an advisor to the board and to work on “various projects” within the group.

Bengt A Rem, chairman of the VSS board, will step in as the company’s interim CEO.

“Christian W. Berg has been instrumental in building VSS to become the leading provider of services in the Arctic regions,” VSS said of his departure.

Berg has been VSS’s CEO since April 2015, when the company changed its named from Rederi AB TransAtlantic.

He has worked for VSS for five years and took a temporary leave of absence from VSS in February due to “family reasons”.

Earlier today, VSS announced it has struck a deal with its bondholders that will help it avoid filing for bankruptcy.
