Chronos Shipping scraps asphalt tanker

Greek owner Chronos Shipping has let go of 1996-built asphalt tanker Asphalt Star, selling it for scrap at a rate of $390 ldt.

The 46,432 dwt vessel was sold as is in Greece, and comes shortly after reports it has acquired K Line’s 2012-built kamsarmax Key Spring for around $22.5m.

The two deals mark a busy start to the year for Chronos, who stayed clear of sale and purchase activity last year.

Comments

  1. An aged asphalt tanker. Sold for scrap in Greece.
So, is that the end of the story? Or the intro to the real story?

    1. Scrapping should be news – wish there were more of them frankly in order to discuss.
Believe these Asphalt tankers are MR conversions, though am not 100pct sure.

Understand this company Chronos is close to Sargeant Maritime (of which Vitol has a stake).
