CIMC forms smart container jv

The world’s largest container manufacturer China International Marine Containers (CIMC) has joined forces with Shenzhen HongYi Hi-Tech Technology and German company ASTO Telematics for the establishment of joint venture ShenZhen ZhongHong Equipment Technology, which will be dedicated to provide smart container components.

The three companies will combine their expertise to develop world-wide and affordable smart containers, recognising that existing solutions do not meet the requirements for a smart container and consequently smart container chain management.

ASTO Telematics will develop the basis of the tested aJour Compact product within the joint venture company to the requirements of a dry container with regard to logistics processes as well as container and transport insurance.

According to ASTO Telematics, the joint venture is pursuing and implementing the goals of the Global Smart Container Alliance, and can satisfy the growing market demand for M2M services and tackle the safety and logistical challenges in the sector.
