Clarksons Platou acquires Safe Harbour Tanker Chartering

Clarksons Platou, the world’s largest shipbroker, has announced the acquisition of brokerage firm Safe Harbour Tanker Chartering.

Connecticut-based Safe Harbour Tanker Chartering, led by Jim Weinberg, has been in operation since 1989 and has a focus on the edible oils sector, specialising in veg oil exports from the US and South America to the wider Americas and European markets.

The company will become part of Clarksons’ specialised products business.

“The acquisition of Safe Harbour is a key step in the development and growth for Clarksons Platou Specialised Products, and represents an important milestone as we forge a path forward into the future. Jim, and his team, bring a wealth of knowledge  and experience to our business, and will help us maintain the continuous expansion of our ‘best in class’ service offering to our global client portfolio,” Clarksons said in a release.
