Clean fuels development at Ras Laffan

Doha: Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, chairman of QAFAC – Qatar Fuel Additives Company – said that the company is working with Qatar Petroleum to explore all possible ways to expand the production of methyltributylether –  which is a suitable alternative for the lead used in the production of fuel – in Mesaieed and Ras Laffan, in order to meet growing demand locally and abroad.

Mohannadi added in light of the continued growth of the fuel market locally and regionally, and with the establishment of a refinery and new fuel in the city of Ras Laffan Industrial City, methyltributylether will play an important role in the production of the fuel that complies with European standards for carbon emissions 'Euro 5'.  [24/04/13]
