CMA CGM opens inland port in Baghdad

Marseille: After more than 33 years of continuous presence in Iraq, CMA CGM will open a new bonded dry port near Baghdad in the Abu Ghreib area, in Iraq, in June this year.

Exclusively managed and operated by CMA CGM, the dry port will be the only one in Iraq, giving customers the opportunity, for the first time, to custom clear their cargo near Baghdad instead of Umm Qasr.

The dry port will be connected to CMA CGM’s inland transportation network, with a possible railway connection 3km away from the site and fast in bond transit from Umm Qasr.

With four offices in Iraq, two dedicated feeders connecting the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr with its Khorfakkan hub, the exclusive concession of Terminal No.4 in Umm Qasr port, and the opening of this new dry port, CMA CGM is among the best placed transport firms in the country.  [27/03/13]
