CNOOC ship sinks near Hong Kong

CNOOC Engineering has today announced that its working vessels “HYSY 699”, was hit by Typhoon Vincente near the east of Hong Kong and lost power, then later sank while the rescue team was towing it back to the shipyard. All the crew on the ship escaped and there were no casualties.

 “HYSY 699” is a tri-use working vessel, the most powerful belonging to CNOOC, and was purchased by CNOOC Engineering for US$ 43.46m in 2008. CNOOC said it has started the insurance claim process. [26/07/12]
