Coal stockpiles rise as slowdown bites

Beijing: Chinese coal producers' stockpiles are leaping on the back of continued poor economic data at home and abroad.
Stockpiles have increased by 70% from a year ago to 98m metric tons by the end of September, according to the National Development and Reform Commission. Coal stocks at major ports had risen by 53% year-on-year to 40.76m tons by the end of September. [05/11/12]
