Coles takes top job at Transas

Bridge equipment provider Transas has tapped a well known name in the world of maritime technology to become its new ceo. Frank Coles, the former head of Inmarsat Maritime, has taken on the top job at Transas.

Coles’s career has also seen him serve as ceo at Globe Wireless. He started out at sea for 12 years before becoming a maritime lawyer, then working for Hong Kong’s Pacific Basin.

Coles commented: “Transas Marine is an agile, innovative, market leading organization and this is an extremely exciting opportunity to participate in the integration and consolidation of technology, efficiency and operations of the maritime industry.”

Starting out with the Informa Group in 2000 in Hong Kong, Sam Chambers became editor of Maritime Asia magazine as well as East Asia Editor for the world’s oldest newspaper, Lloyd’s List. In 2005 he pursued a freelance career and wrote for a variety of titles including taking on the role of Asia Editor at Seatrade magazine and China correspondent for Supply Chain Asia. His work has also appeared in The Economist, The New York Times, The Sunday Times and The International Herald Tribune.
