Confusion surrounds management of Indonesian cruise facility

Jakarta: Local authorities in the Indonesian province of Karangasem are getting increasingly frustrated at Jakarta’s slowness to appoint a manager and operator at the cruise facility in Tanah Ampo. The site is a dedicated cruise facility and its proximity to Bali makes it a potentially attractive destination. The initial cruise facility was finished in 2010, at a cost of around $13m. Plans to extend the pier from its current 154 m to up to 500 m are on hold until the national government can confirm who is in charge of the site.  [07/01/13]
