Congestion at Yangshan Port causes delays for lines

Shanghai’s Yangshan Port has been suffering from severe congestion, causing chaos for the port’s operations.

Sources tell Splash that the congestion has caused delays in both ships calling at Yangshan Port’s Shengdong container terminal and Guandong container terminal.

Major lines have all sent notices to their clients to reschedule services and Maersk Line has even switched four ship callings between April 19 to April 27 from Yangshan Port to Waigaoqiao Port. K Line and NYK also delayed the sailing date of some of their containerships at Yangshan Port.

When contacted by Splash, an official at Shanghai Shengdong International Container Terminal said the port is doing it best to solve the congestion problem without giving a timeframe.
