Cosco Shipping Energy orders MR tanker pair at Cosco Dalian Shipyard

Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation (CSET), the tanker unit of Cosco, has placed an order at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry’s Dalian shipyard for the construction of two 49,900 dwt MR tankers.

The price for each vessel is $33.9m and delivery is expected in 2021.

Cosco said the new MR tankers will optimise the company’s fleet structure to meet the demands from the national energy strategy.

CSET currently owns a fleet of 127 vessels, made up of 121 oil tankers and six LPG carriers. It has another 19 tankers on order.
