Cosco Shipping secures heavy transport contract from Shell

Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers has been awarded a contract by Shell to transport the Vito floating production unit to the Gulf of Mexico.

The integrated Vito FPU will be transported by Cosco’s semi-submersible heavy lift ship, the 98,400 dwt Xin Guang Hua, from its fabrication yard in Singapore.

The contract is the third heavy lift project Shell has awarded to Cosco Shipping after the two parties signed a framework agreement in 2014.

“We are thankful that Shell has once again put its trust in Cosco Shipping Specialized to successfully execute the transportation of Vito. Our team looks forward to working together to ensure the safe delivery of Vito to the Gulf of Mexico,” said Josh Wilson, VP business development at Cosco Shipping Heavy Transport.
