Cosco to consolidate US operations

Shanghai: Cosco is going to consolidate its US container shipping business, with Cosco Container Lines Americas (CCLA) announcing that it will close most of its offices in the US and consolidate them into a larger North America operation centre as part of a restructuring move.

The CCLA offices in Boston, Charleston, Chicago, Henderson, New York, Norfolk, San Francisco and Seattle will be closed. Meanwhile, most of the customer service and operation function perfomed by CCLA headquarters in Secaucus, NJ will also be transferred to the new operation center.

CCLA believes that the restructuring will improve overall performance and efficiency of the company and the company will also be able to provide superior and value-added service to customers.

The restructure is expected to be finalised this year, with CCLA’s US customers continuing to receive uninterrupted service during the restructure. [10/07/14]
