Shanghai: COSCO Container Lines (COSCON) has signed a new agreement with Icelandic shipping company Eimskip to strengthen the cooperation between the two companies.
According to COSCON, the new agreement will see the two companies increase the volume of cooperative container shipping substantially and they have also discussed potential cooperation on European feeder lines, Arctic shipping and shipbuilding.
In a meeting with Zhu Jiandong, the vice general manager of COSCON on the signing day, the president of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson stressed the importance of the Arctic to the world economy and hoped the two countries will together play a more active role in its development.[20/01/14]
