COSL to order 12 LNG-powered OSV newbuildings

China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL), the offshore service unit of China’s state run energy giant CNOOC, is planning a newbuilding project involving a total of 12 LNG-powered offshore supply vessels.

The company has contracted Shanghai Bestway for the design of the vessels, although the yard to construct the vessels has not been revealed.

The 12 vessels comprised of eight 4,000 hp vessels and four 5,000 hp vessels and will be deployed for operations at oil and gas fields in China.

Last year, COSL took delivery of six offshore supply vessels from Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries
