Costa Victoria finally leaves HK, passengers continue to demand compensation

Hong Kong: The Costa Victoria finally set sail for Hainan and Vietnam at 11.30pm after a bitter 17-hour standoff as disgruntled passengers refused to leave the ship when it docked in Hong Kong yesterday morning, annoyed that the vessel had missed part of the planned itinerary, Halong Bay in northern Vietnam.

The final passengers were coerced off the ship around 11pm, allowing the vessel to leave on its next trip some eight and a half hours late.

Negotiations between the protesting passengers – who are demanding 30% of the cost of their package tour as compensation and Miramar Travel and Costa Cruise – took place today.  [07/02/14]
