Courage Investment eyes blockchain jv

Hong Kong-listed Courage Investment, formerly known as Courage Marine, has entered into a memorandum of understanding to explore the possibility of cooperation with technology firm Dragon Net.

The cooperation could be conducted via setting up a joint venture or acquisition of part of the equity interest in Dragon Net.

Dragon Net is principally engaged in the research and development of blockchain technology as well as asset digitisation.

Courage Investment believes that blockchain technology could be applied to certain business activities of the company including marine transport and merchandise trading, and it can broaden the company’s income base and provide a stable recurrent income.

Last year, Courage Marine acquired the entire interest of South Korean artist management firm BDG Entertainment in order to diversify its business.

In May, Courage Marine cancelled a bulker sale to Universal Ship Investment in order to comply with stock listing regulations. The company currently has two supramax bulkers in its fleet.
