Court releases Chelsea ship after three years

Manila: The Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) has ordered the release of 220,000 metric tons of industrial diesel oil (IDO) belonging to Marine Fuels Philippines Inc (MFPI), and the vessel on which it was loaded, which were confiscated by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in January 2011 for allegedly being smuggled.

The ship is owned by Chelsea Shipping Corp (CSC).

The court found that the fuel was not imported as originally thought, but came from a local refinery.  [14/05/14]
