Crane bursts into flames while unloading coal from bulker at Brazilian port

A ship-to-shore crane burst into flames while being used to unload a cargo of coal at the Port of Itaqui in São Luís in Brazil’s northern state of Maranhão, according to Reuters.

The dockworker who was operating the crane to lift the coal from the 2009-built bulker Nord Trust needed to be rescued by colleagues but escaped unscathed.

The blaze was brought under control using tugboats. Maranhao Port Authority (EMPA) has begun investigating what caused the fire.
