Cranes shift to new Omani terminal

Muscat: Oman International Container Terminal (OICT) has successfully completed the month-long task of moving its quayside cranes together with other container handling equipment from its old terminal at Sohar Port to its new Terminal C.

Four post-Panamax cranes and eight rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGC) were relocated from the old Terminal B to OICT’s new high-tech terminal which became operational in May.

Volumes handled at Terminal C have leapt in the wake of its soft-launch last month. Container throughput was around 25,000 teu for the month of June up from 15,000 teu in May.  [08/07/14]
