CRCC orders wind turbine installation vessel at Cosco

Chinese state-run construction group China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC)’s affiliate company CRCC Harbour & Channel Engineering has placed an order at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry for the construction of a wind turbine installation vessel.

The order marks CRCC’s entry into the offshore wind farm engineering market.

The self-elevating vessel, which will be built at Cosco’s Qidong yard, will have a lifting capacity of 1,300 tons.

China is pushing forward with its plan for promoting offshore wind power with a target of wind power accounting for about 6% of the total generating capacity in the country by 2020.
