CSC Phoenix in for two secondhand bulkers

Chinese domestic owner CSC Phoenix has acquired two secondhand bulk carriers, having announced plans to do so in March.

The company has acquired the 2002-built handymax bulker Astra from Norwegian owner Jupiter Bulker, while in a separate deal it has bought the 2002-built supramax bulker Ocean Treasure from Ukraine’s Kaalbye Shipping.

The vessels are expected to be delivered to the company before June 20. Total price for the two vessels is $16.85m.

CSC Phoenix reported a risk of capacity shortage in April and it expects the two vessels to increase profitability for the company.
