CSSC builds new shipbuilding base in Guangxi

Guangzhou: China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) has signed agreements with Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government, Qinzhou municipal government and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group to build a new shipbuilding base in the fast emerging port city of Qinzhou with a whopping investment of RMB7bn-RMB10bn. It will end the history of no modern shipbuilding enterprises along the coastal areas of Guangxi upon completion.

“Currently trade between China and ASEAN countries has been growing rapidly, the Beibu Gulf region is facing big opportunities, it is an important strategic decision of the group to build large scale shipbuilding and ship repair base in Qinzhou Port which will complete the industrial layout of the group and optimize the industrial structure in Guangxi province,” said Hu Wenming, president of CSSC Group.

In 2011, trade volume between China and ASEAN countries reached $362.85bn, and China has been the largest trade partner of ASEAN for three consecutive years.  [25/09/12]
