CSSC Chengxi inks orders for eight bulkers

Shanghai: CSSC Chengxi Shipyard has announced that it has signed three orders for the construction of eight bulkers this month.

The shipyard has signed a shipbuilding contract of four additional 39,500 dwt Deltamarin designed bulkers with Singapore owner Swire Shipping, an extension of a contract the two companies signed in March this year for four bulkers. The vessels are scheduled for delivery between August 2013 and December 2014.

One week later, the yard received another order for three 48,500 dwt bulkers from Jiangsu Ligang Power, a large scale power generation enterprise in Jiangsu province, with scheduled delivery from April 2014.

The shipyard has also inked a contract with Guangzhou Maritime Transport Company, a fully-controlled subsidiary of China Shipping Group, for one 65,000 dwt bulker.

Chengxi Shipyard said although the orders were all signed at low prices, they will enrich the shipyard’s production in 2013. [19/12/12]
