Customs clearance time to be slashed

Hanoi: The General Department of Customs has set an ambitious target to reduce the time needed for customs procedures to 10-11 hours from the current 21 days.

The department has requested the Ministry of Transport to simplify goods delivery procedures at ports.

With e-customs applied from April this year, the customs authorities can receive declaration forms from enterprises and send feedback within a couple of seconds. Normal goods shipments can be tested in eight hours while new scanners can check a container in 10 minutes.

In addition, the use of barcodes will soon be piloted in Haiphong City.  [20/10/14]
