Dae Sun wins Shokuyu Tanker order

Dae Sun Shipbuilding & Engineering has won an order from Japan’s Shokuyu Tanker to build a 3,500 dwt stainless steel chemical tanker.

Shokuyu Tanker took the decision to order outside of Japan, the owner said, because it appreciated the quality Dae Sun manages having taken one of its ships on charter in the past.

Dae Sun has been marketing this small chemical tanker design since 2014 and has taken orders for 14 of these ships to date.

Dae Sun’s specialist niche has seen it become a rare winner of orders among the South Korean shipbuilding industry. It has said it is confident of more orders coming in the next few months too.
