Dutch Damen Shipyards and Rio de Janeiro-headquartered Compagnie Maritime Monégasque (CMM) have sealed a deal for an offshore support contract involving a fast crew supplier Aqua Helix.
The two-year deal will see the vessel, which arrived in Brazil at the end of January, transport personnel to and from platforms backing an unnamed oil and gas decommissioning project.
CMM already operates a fleet of Damen’s Sea Axe fast oil spill response ships in Brazil and will utilise the so-called FCS 7011 vessel in the coming weeks.
The 2021-built unit sports an Ampelmann S-type motion-compensated walkway and with its capacity of up to 122 passengers as well as a speed of 40 knots, it is said to offer a viable alternative to surfer and helicopter transfers.
