Damen has taken over management of a ship repair yard on the Caribbean island of Curacao.
Dutch company Damen Shipyards Group (DSG) reached an agreement with the government of Curacao in September last year.
Now a Damen subsidiary Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (DSC) has taken the helm of what used to be Curacao Droogdok Maatschappij (CDM) and which will now be known as Damen Shiprepair Curacao (DSCu).
Curacao is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and sits close to the coast of Venezuela. It is well located, on the Panama Canal route and outside the Hurricane Belt.
It has two docks and Damen plans to invest $40m in a third floating dock and other upgrades.
