Damen Yichang Shipyard targets new markets with expanded portfolio

Shanghai: Damen Yichang Shipyard, the joint venture between Damen Shipyards Group and Sinotrans CSC, is rolling out an increased portfolio of vessels on offer to diversify its product range.

The yard is already building a number of specialised pontoons, whilst plans for dredgers and LPG tanker construction are being finalised.

Hans Voorneveld, executive director at Damen Shipyards Group, said: “We’re looking at dredgers, pontoons and barges, LNG/LPG tankers and offshore support vessels, such as platform suppliers.”

The yard also expects the wider offering to help expand its current geographical reach, which is dominated by western European clients.

Damen Yichang Shipyard commenced operations in 1999, and has traditionally focused on cargo vessels up to 15,000dwt.
