Death sentences upheld for former Vinalines chairman and ceo

Hanoi: The Supreme People’s Court in Hanoi on Wednesday upheld the death sentences for Duong Chi Dung, ex-chairman of the Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines), and Mai Van Phuc, former ceo of the state-owned corporation, for their offenses in a serious corruption case in six years ago.
 
The case revolved primarily around kickbacks for the purchase of a Russian floating dry dock. Seven other people received jail sentences. [08/05/14]
