DeepOcean scores Mexican contract

DeepOcean’s Mexican unit has won a contract for the provision of post-lay trenching works on 30 km of pipeline offshore Mexico.

The 2008-built subsea construction vessel Volantis equipped with the company’s high powered jet trencher UT-1 has been earmarked for the job.

The vessel on charter from Volstad Maritime was mobilised from Norway after the completion of an extensive upgrade, which included the installation of batteries to reduce fuel consumption and emissions as part of DeepOcean’s commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by 45% by 2030.

The latest deal follows over 300 km of completed trenching scopes offshore Mexico. The client and the value of the contract have not been disclosed.
