DeepOcean wins Hornsea cable installation contract

Norwegian subsea firm DeepOcean has been awarded cable installation and trenching work by DONG Energy for its Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm.

DeepOcean will utilise its in-house cable installation and trenching vessels to install and trench 93 array cables.

Pierre Boyde, commercial director for cables and trenching at DeepOcean, commented: “After the awards on the Race Bank & Walney Extension projects we are delighted to be further developing our relationship with DONG Energy. We have invested heavily in class leading installation and trenching technology with a strong focus on both safety and productivity. This award will safeguard 150 jobs in Darlington and the surrounding area as well as enabling us to offer significant opportunities to the UK supply chain.”

Offshore work is expected to be undertaken in two campaigns, commencing in the third quarter 2018 and first quarter of 2019 respectively.
