DEME awarded wind farm installation contract

Belgian marine engineering services provider DEME Offshore has secured a €200m ($223m) contract from Danish energy firm Ørsted to install foundations and turbines at Hornsea offshore wind farm.

Under the contract, DEME Offshore will transport and install 165 monopile foundations and carry out scour protection. The monopoles will be installed by offshore installation vessel Orion.

Turbine installation will be carried out with offshore installation vessels Sea Challenger and Sea Installer. The installation work are expected to be completed in early 2022.

We look forward to working with Ørsted and to leverage our joint expertise to successfully and safely deliver this major project,” said DEME Offshore general manager Bart De Poorter.
