Denmark suspends processing green energy projects

The Danish Energy Agency has suspended the processing of offshore wind turbine projects and other renewable energy projects under its so-called open door scheme as it awaits clarification from the European Union on a number of legal issues. How the projects have been awarded might be breaking EU laws, the agency explained.

The decision has shocked many with Kristian Jensen, CEO of Green Power Denmark, commenting: “The government is suddenly slamming the door to the green transition with a bang that sends shock waves through the entire green energy industry. The companies have done a huge amount of preparatory work and are ready to build more green energy, and then the government pulls the plug on the open door scheme at the 11th hour. This is simply not right.”
