DFDS charters two roro newbuildings from Siem

Danish shipping firm DFDS has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Siem Group to bareboat-charter two ro-ro freight newbuildings for a five-year period in order to accommodate increasing freight volumes.

The two ships are being built by Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft, with deliveries expected to take place in May and September 2017. The freight capacity of each ship is 4,076 lane metres. As part of the agreement, DFDS holds options to purchase the ships.

The two ships are to be deployed in the North Sea, adding around 20% more capacity compared to the ships they are expected to replace.
