DHT positions itself as pure-play VLCC owner with aframax pair up for sale

DHT Holdings is looking to become a pure-play VLCC owner, and has put its only two aframaxes in the shop window.

Brokers report that the New York-listed tanker major has placed the 2004-built DHT Cathy and 2003-built DHT Sophie – both built at Hyundai Samho in South Korea – up for sale with sources suggesting the company is looking for an en bloc price in the region of $25m.

Last year DHT merged with BW’s VLCC fleet to give it one of the largest supertanker fleets in the world, with 27 VLCCs trading today.
