Diamond Offshore secures new semi-sub contracts

Drilling contractor Diamond Offshore has secured new contracts for two semi-submersible drilling rigs.

The company has executed new contracts for the Ocean Monarch in Australia, the first of which is scheduled to commence in late first quarter of 2018. The contracts add nine months of backlog and will keep the Ocean Monarch contracted through 2018.

In addition, Diamond Offshore executed a new two-year term contract with Apache for the Ocean Patriot in the North Sea. The rig is scheduled to commence operations for the new program in the second quarter of 2018.

Diamond Offshore reported total revenues of $374.2m for the first quarter of 2017, down from $470.5m in the same period of 2016.
