Diana fixes panamax to China Shipping

Hong Kong-based China Shipping Bulk Carrier Co has chartered one of Diana Shipping’s panamaxes for nine to twelve months at a discount to the vessel’s previous employment.

The Artemis (76,942 dwt, built 2006) was fixed at gross rate of $7,500 per day, minus a 5% commission for third parties.

Diana expects the contract, which commenced yesterday, to generate $2.02m of gross revenue for the minimum nine-month period of the timecharter.

The rate is around a 20% decrease on Artemis‘ previous employment with Rio Tinto Shipping, which took the vessel on a two-year timecharter for a gross rate of $9,375 daily. The contract recently expired.
