Switzerland’s Cargill International has taken 2010-built kamsarmax Medusa at a gross charter rate of $10,000 per day. The new charter commenced on July 6, and represents a significant increase on the $6,300 per day previously paid by Quadra Commodities.

Hong Kong’s Ausca Shipping has taken a pair of panamax vessels, Artemis and Thetis. The 2006-built Artemis has been fixed at $9,000 per day, the charter commencing on July 8, while the 2004-built Thetis is fixed at $8,350 per day commencing on July 12.

Both panamaxes were fixed at much lower rates previously, the Artemis on $5,350 per day with Bunge and the Thetis on $5,150 per day with Transgrain.
